Biography

Dr. Mathias R. Vairez Jr., is a career educator and researcher. During his career, he has served as a teacher, vice-principal, principal, instructional supervisor, university instructor, and researcher in Belize and the USA. His areas of expertise include Instructional Technology, Educational Leadership, Educational Psychology, Research, Measurement, and Statistics. Dr. Vairez is an active, national and international, researcher and consultant in the areas of Research, Measurement, and Statistics. In collaboration with national and international scholars, Dr. Vairez has published several peer-reviewed research articles and has presented research findings at over 15 international research conferences including the American Educational Research Association, Caribbean Studies Association, Research Association of Minority Professors, and Adult Higher Education Alliance. Also, Dr. Vairez has been instrumental in obtaining program evaluation and grant funding of a combined total of $950,000.00USD.

Currently, Dr. Vairez is an assistant professor in the Department of Education, University of Belize; where he facilitates courses in Educational Psychology, Adolescent Psychology, Assessment, Research, Measurement and Evaluation, and Statistics. Additionally, he serves as a thesis advisor for undergraduate and graduate students. His research interests include: Hierarchical Linear Modeling, Linear Growth Modeling, Psychometrics, Measurement Invariance, Educational Disparities, Non-cognitive Factors & Achievement and Cultural Competency & Diversity.
