Thippi Thiagarajan, Ph.D.

Biography

Prof. Thippi Thiagarajan has been working with faculty members from UB and foreign universities in joint research projects and mentoring many of his colleagues in designing experiments and writing articles. He is always passionate about students’ academic progress and has taught over dozen different biology courses to a total of more than 5000 students. He believes in perseverance, dedication, hard work and most of all acquiring the knowledge and skills that are critical for academic achievements and social mobility. He also promotes science programs in primary schools through outreach activities.

Over the years he has supervised more than 100 undergraduate students for their thesis and mentored many more. Many of those students have gone for higher studies and completed their postgraduate and doctoral programs in various fields and are occupying key positions in Government, Non-government and private sectors. Along with his colleagues and students, he has authored over 25 articles in regional and international journals (https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=9iW3zlEAAAAJ) and made many presentations in local and regional conferences ( https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Thippi-Thiagarajan). In August 2018, he was promoted as a full professor at the University of Belize and he is the first one to receive this honour. Professor Thippi made Belize his home and is planning to spend his retired life in the capital city of Belmopan.
